I was taking a look at gravatar.com. Looks like a nice service, very responsive, however, it doesn’t have an API, so users have to go the site to enter their avatars and also it’s not localized (no spanish support, for example)
I’d like to explore 3rd party options first for avatar handling before embarking on implementing the feature? Suggestions?Admineduardomanchon (Admin, askaro) gave this 1 vote ·

Well, full text search within a bounding box is planned.
“Repositioning” in a neighborhood is done with the search box. Now, you can’t really search by neighborhood, you’ll have to put a street name. We don’t have a neighborhood database with polylines at moment. Will keep an eye for this, as the site grows, to perhaps introduce the concept of neighborhoods (I’m sure data might exists for them, along with accurate polylines)Admineduardomanchon (Admin, askaro) gave this 3 votes ·

This is a great idea. The thing though, is what to do if the attached address isn’t within the bounds of the view port? Although this might be (hopefully) an uncommon case, It might be confusing if some addresses show and some don’t.
I can think of different ways to do it
a) Hovering over an address will show it in the map (as a marker). If it isn’t visible in the map, then it should say something (a flash message)
b) A variation of a is to show all addresses if the user hovers an answer. The problem with the missing address is compounded this way
c) Show addresses from all answers (with labels A, B, C, D). etc If an address insn’t visible, then you’ll see A B and D for example, and it will be clear. Of course, you can always click on a address to show… more

yeah, this is probably the most demanded feature for Askaro. We already have a UI prototype for this and Ubaldo will start coding this shortly. Would you be interested also in Twitter notifications?

Finally we will skip gravatar and add pictures directly to profiles in Askaro.
