Thanks, that idea makes sense for questions, but not sure for answers or comments. Maybe having a single edit rule for everything would be simpler. Since you normally realize of your own the mistake right after posting the content, allowing edits during one minute or so could work for any kind of content posted.

I understand, but I have a first hand experience where I made a mistake and posted my own answer to my own question in the description box. It was too easy to create this mistake because I was going to delete my question and start from scratch, but mistakenly clicked post instead.

        DOH!!!

How about allowing editing up until the point where there is a comment / answer?

Would that be allowable? Seems rather straight forward. A comment could be the trigger in the scripting to prohibit any further editing. Just have the description on the question posting page describe this.

Or how about a notice like:
Note: you will be able to edit your question until an answer has been posted. Even though you have created this question, any editing after an answer has been posted will remove your ability to modify the question. If you understand this, please click 'Post' now.

I can see where this will be a painful process both now at startup and further along when you have a huge amount of posters. But, I would imagine that you are still in the beta stage for final decisions on site operation.

Thanks again for your responses to my questions ans such.

        Todd

Yes, you're right. I'm torn between allowing edit v.s. using comments for this purpose. Editing is complicated because once you have answers, if someone changes a question significantly, then the whole thing is a mess, nobody would understand it.
